How the PBIS Reward System Works
PBIS was launched in the fall of 2013. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. What is unique about PBIS is that all of the staff including the support staff are a part of the process. The students receive blue tickets for being Titans.
Being a Titan:
The Blue Ticket Process:
Also twice a year the PBIS team has a reward day to acknowledge the staff and students’ efforts demonstrating Titan qualities. PBIS and the reward system has proven to be very successful over the past two years because of the reduction of referrals.
Being a Titan:
- Being prepared- An example in the classroom would be a Titan being prepared by bringing all of his or her supplies to class.
- Being responsible- An example in the hallway would be a Titan being responsible would be using an indoor voice and gathering things needed for the his or her next class.
- Being respectful- An example on the bus would be a Titan being respectful sitting and minding his or her manners.
- Taking the initiative- An example in the lunchroom would be a Titan taking the initiative to clean off the lunch table.
The Blue Ticket Process:
- The students are then rewarded with a blue ticket through the PBIS Rewards.
- They choose from various prizes leveled by number of tickets.
- The students may redeem tickets through the PBIS store and on PBIS Reward days.
